Small Group Trip to West End

Cape Flattery is the farthest west location in the continental
United States. Our small group of travelers made the big
drive to see awesome sights. They also saw the dramatic
Makah Museum featuring Native American culture and
art. I was so jealous when I saw them leave!

Walk and Cruise Trip to the Lighthouse

Today some of our families took a walk and cruise trip to the New Dungeness Lighthouse. Janet and Roger Clark offered their wonderful boat for an exciting boat ride. On the morning trip they saw seals and bald eagles. On the return trip we raced a Coast Guard patrol boat. They won!

Orientation Day

[Click the image for a larger view of the picture]

Today the teens had orientation. This is a time where they can get better acquainted with each other and the young American adult Annaliese and their American teen friends, Chelsea and Kinzie. They learned that we speak English here. They were also reminded about typical American Family customs and respecting their host families rules. But like all our events, there was a heavy emphasis on just having fun.

Maddelan and Kinzie have a serious discussion on best places to shop in America and Basque!

Old and new groups, Old and new Friendships!

PS: You do not see Sara here. She went to a wedding in Seattle. Her host families' brother/brother-in-law is getting married on Saturday. Sara is completely involved in all the festivities.

Today some of us are off to walk to the lighthouse.

Families Join Together

Airport Videos

I was way too tired from all the excitement and wonders of the day to post these videos from the airport. As you watch these you can see new friendships being formed. Plans that have taken months to develop were born in an instant. This event, like a wedding, started and ended in smiles, shouting and whispers of unforgettable memories yet to come!

Welcome to America

The days are running very short before the Basque teens arrive in sunny Sequim. The goal of this blog is to post photos and video of their stay here and thus keep the families engaged and informed about their teens. Feel free to share this link with family and friends! Bob Selby
